Profile: Jerry Copp

–Update on Jerry Copp, former Chelan County PUD General Manager–
Jerry worked at Chelan County PUD from fall of 1962 to Jan. 31, 1991. He became Assistant Manager in mid-1980 and General Manager in 1981.

I checked in with Jerry Copp this week,  just a few days after he and Barb returned from their winter home in Arizona.  They spend part of the year in Green Valley and part in Wenatchee.  Obviously, they are loving retirement!

In Arizona Jerry and Barb both golf, play bridge in a 4 couples  group, attend the Methodist Church, and are active in an antique car club.  The car club keeps them busy—once a month there is a fun car outing (recently to U.S. Nogales) and also a breakfast meeting which is attended by about 125 people.  The car club holds a big winter car show at a golf course driving range; around 2500 people attend to see 500-550 cars.  The group raises $10,000 to $15,000 annually for local high school students’ college scholarships plus donates a $5000 car.  In addition to their joint activities, for seven years Barb has led a Wednesday hiking group.

Back in Wenatchee, Jerry and Barb start out with a few home maintenance items, then begin golfing, doing community service projects, and having fun times with friends.  You may have seen them on Apple Blossom Grand Parade Day; in their 1936 Ford coupe they escorted State Senator Linda Evans Parlette.

Family is very important to Jerry and Barb.  Their three children, five grandchildren, and now six great-grandchildren get top priority.

Jerry still loves totalk PUD “language”.  He would be delighted to sit down and visit with any of you— at any time!
